What is Permanent Makeup ?
Permanent makeup (PMU) or micropigmentation is the revolutionary method of depositing hypoallergenic mineral pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. With an ultra-thin needle and pigment, the shape of the eyebrows, eyes or lips is enhanced.
This treatment is also known as permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing. However, the pigments used for permanent makeup are introduced less deeply into the skin layer and have a different composition from tattoo inks. Micropigmentation devices are also more refined than tattoo machines, and the techniques that are used are different.
What is microblading ?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattooing that involves using tiny, fine-point needles, that make up a small disposable blade and handle. That helps scratch and deposit pigment simultaneously under your skin.
How does microblading differ from tattooing ?
In microblading we are using a state-of-the-art hand tool that lets us creates thinner, more precise, hairlike strokes that aren’t as deeply ingrained into the skin.
The pigment differs from that of a tattoo as well, because :
- it’s only semi-permanent because your body eventually ends up metabolizing it
- the dye particles are less concentrated that a tattoo’s ink
Does microblading hurt ?
It doesn’t hurt as such, it is more a sensation. The process itself is not painful thanks to the numbing ointment that is applied.
How long does microblading last ?
Microblading usually lasts around one to three years, but you should be coming back in four weeks for a touch-up/check-in, to make sure you were happy with the end result. After that, you wouldn’t need a touch-up for 12 months. These appointments also cost less than the initial price of microblading.
How much does microblading cost ?
All prices can be found on my booking page. Please keep in mind that brow products aren’t cheap and your time is precious, and this, my friend, will save you a lot of time, since you won’t have to do your eyebrows anymore 🙂
Can microbladed eyebrows be undone / removed ?
Yes – the pigment used leaves no scarring or discolouration, and I can use a salt/saline solution to remove microbladed brows.
It is very important to know and understand that brows will be up to 40% darker in shade for the first 7-10 days during the healing process where scabs can form and flake off.
Clients can sometimes leave the studio, and two days later be terrified that their brows are too dark, but please be patient – as this is totally normal! After 7-10 days, you will begin to see the final colouring.
